<p>1469846 Backing flux for one-side welding KOBE STEEL Ltd 13 Dec 1974 [13 Dec 1973] 53962/74 Heading C7M A welding backing flux contains 2-20 parts by wt of furfural resin, furfuryl alcohol resin or furan resin, or a synthetic resin consisting of any combination of these resins, and 100 parts by wt of basic ingredients made up of deoxidizers, slagformers and, optionally, metallic materials. The preferred deoxidizers are one or more of Mn, Si, Al, Ti, Mg and Ca and they are preferably added as ferroalloys. Suitable slag-formers include SiO 2 , TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , CaCO 3 , Mn 2 O 3 , MgO, Al 2 O 3 , MgCO 3 , and CaF 2 . Additional ingredients include Fe powder and alloy powders containing any of Mn, Si, Mo, Ni Cr and B, preferably as ferroalloys. Several examples are given of flux compositions. The flux may be prepared by mixing the ingredients other than the resin, pelletizing, baking, adding the resin, kneading and drying.</p> |
