1506058 Reagent storage and dispensing SOCIAL SERVICES SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 20 July 1976 [13 Aug 1975] 33797/75 Heading G1B A liquid storage device for use for example as a reagent storage and dispensing device in the automatic analysis apparatus of Specification 1491879, comprises a base part 8, on the base part a heat insulated jacket 9 formed to carry a plurality of liquid storage containers 10 so they have at least their lower parts positioned in the jacket, cups 12 carried by base part 8 alongside the jacket and having upwardly facing openings, passage means for connecting the containers to the cups, means for maintaining the liquid in each cup at constant level, and means which may comprise a electrical heating element 37 in an air-inlet pipe 6 into the space within the jacket and a refrigeration system (not shown) also connected to pipe 6 at its lower end, arranged to maintain the temperature of the liquid storage containers at a predetermined value. The liquid take-off means may comprise respective liquid take-off cups 12 for the containers, the cups being for co-operation with a vertically displaceable liquid extraction device (not shown) on indexing of the containers to a particular position by rotation of base part 8 supporting jacket 9 &c. by means of a stepping motor (not shown), the stepping motor being controlled by encoder disc 25 fitted to gear 24 and stationary detector 26, each liquid storage container 10 in the embodiment shown being carried when in the jacket in the inverted position with a plug 14 at its lower end, the plug having hole 28 as an air vent and hole 29 as a liquid outlet hole normally closed by ball-valve 13 and opened when the container is in the position shown when pin 15 lifts the ball off its seat. The constant level arrangement for liquid in a cup 12 includes bores 35, 36 and overflow bore 17. |
