Thickness measuring equipment is for products such as electric cables, whereby the measured item is sensed between rollers. One of the rollers (23) is held rigid whilst the other (24) is attached to a yoke (22) capable of moving at right angles to the measured item and fixed in turn to the moving part (30) of a linear displacement indicator. Pref. the moving roller is borne by double oil or air-damped bearings in the yoke. A balancing weight is fixed to the yoke. The displacemet indicator may be converted into readable form by means of an amplifier (34) and a digital voltmeter (36).
