The invention relates to a method of bundling woody plants, said plants being successively fed to and gathered in a bundling unit (8) where the plants and the continuous bundle being formed are subjected to a rotary movement and a simultaneous substantially linear movement in the longitudinal direction of the continuous bundle being formed. According to the invention the plants are fed onto a supporting plane (7) on which they are engaged and conveyed in a direction generally transversal to the longitudinal extension of the plants and sideways into the bundling unit.
