Window or door having a fixed sash (2) and a sliding bottom-hinged sash (3) which is displaceable parallel to the fixed sash and into which a slidably mounted, removable fly-proof screen (16) is installed, the frame legs (9) of which are located at a distance between the crossmembers of the neighbouring sashes. Arranged at least on one of the crossmembers is a covering strip (10) which is provided with a seal and is designed such that it can be displaced by the thickness of the frame leg (9) in the direction perpendicular to the sash plane, in order to seal the sashes in the overlapping region. For this purpose, a groove (14) is provided on the crossmember (6) and two parallel webs (12, 13), the distance between whose centres is equal to the thickness of the frame leg (9), are provided on the covering strip (10). As a result, it is possible for the covering strip (10) to be fitted, with or without fly-proof screen (8), on the crossmember (6) of the sliding bottom-hinged sash (3). <IMAGE>
