The boiler has a rectangular casing with a water jacket surrounding a fuel hopper (2), the lower part of which forms the combustion chamber. The grate (1) slopes upwards from the front to the back and the opening (3) in the back of the combustion chamber leading to the flue gas passages (4) comes under the high back end of the grate. This arrangement enables the gases to pass out through the grate and prevents them accumulating at the top of the hopper. Existing boilers can easily be adapted by replacement of an existing horizontal grate below the smoke outlet with a new sloping one.
|
