COPOLYMER POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE AND USE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer suitable for hollow molded container, etc., having excellent drawing properties, gas barrier properties, etc., by copolymerizing terephthalic acid and a specific amount of naphthalenedicarboxylic acid with ethylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:(A) 97-75 mol % terephthalic acid, (B) 3-25 mol% naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and (C) ethylene glycol, for example, are esterified and subjected to polycondensation preferably at 200-320 deg.C to give the objective polymer having 0.5-1.5 dl/g intrinsic viscosity.
