[Also in Division A5] Novel compounds of the general formula (wherein R represents a C 1-4 alkyl radical, each R<SP>1</SP> represents H or Me, not more than two being Me, A represents H or a C 1-6 alkyl or C 3-9 cycloalkyl radical and A<SP>1</SP> represents a naphthyl or phenyl radical or a substituted phenyl radical containing up to 15 carbon atoms, the substituent(s) being selected from CF 3 , C 1-8 alkyl and alkoxy, di-(C 1-8 alkyl). amino and halogen, or A and A<SP>1</SP> each represent a C 1-6 alkyl or C 3-9 cycloalkyl radical, or A and A<SP>1</SP> jointly form with N a C 4-12 heterocyclic ring system) are prepared by reacting the corresponding 3-pyrrolidinols or metal salts thereof with carbamyl halides of the general formula (wherein X represents a halogen atom). The products may be converted to pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts. Carbamyl chlorides of the second general formula above (X = Cl) are prepared by reacting amines A.NH.A<SP>1</SP> with phosgene. |
