The present invention provides a method of treating neurological disorders, such as epilepsy, comprising administering an effect amount of an acetone derivative having the formula R1-CR3(X)-R2, to an animal in need thereof. Such acetone derivatives show higher anticonvulsant activity and improved therapeutic indexes over acetone itself.
