A location based service system using a mobile communication terminal and a method thereof are provided to supply real location information or virtual location information according to a service condition of location service information, thereby satisfying user desires with regard to the location based service. A location inquiry unit(110) inquires a location about a specific terminal. The location inquiry unit transmits the inquired location information. A location based service server(114) registers conditional location system information according to a terminal. If a location inquiry about the specific terminal is requested, the location based service server selectively provides the real location information or the virtual location information from the location inquiry unit according to a service condition of the location system information to a corresponding terminal through the communication network.
