PURPOSE:To eliminate conduction of heat, and to reduce the quantity of evaporation of a refrigerant such as liquid helium and the like with which a superconducting coil is cooled by a method wherein a residual magnetic field is formed on a cylindrical superconducting material, a current is allowed to flow into the cylindrical superconducting material, and a superconducting coil, which is formed into the state of a superconducting magnet, is placed in the cylindrical superconducting material. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical conducting material 1 is brought into a superconducting state by cooling, and an external magnetic field, which is strong enough to penetrate into the superconducting material, is applied by an electromagnet 4. Subsequently, the external magnetic field is removed. When a superconducting magnet, on which a current is applied to a superconducting coil in a superconducting state by cooling, is placed in the cylindrical conducting material 1 where a residual magnetic field is formed, the superconducting magnet 2 is levitated and brought into a stadstill state at the peak position of the residual magnet field distribution 3 of the cylindrical superconducting material 1. |
