<p>Uni- or two-dimensisnally extended articles are produced from polymers of alpha,alpha-dialkyl-beta-propiolactones by mixing the polymer with a gelling agent, gelling the mixture at between 100 degrees C and the b.pt. of the gelling agent, shaping the mixture to form the desired articles, and then removing the gelling agent from the obtained moulding. The process avoids degradation of the polymer by overheating during processing, and gives films or fibres of good mechanical strength.</p> |
