The towing device comprises a stable platform which rolls on rails by four driven wheels. A vertically pivotable ramp(2) is connected to the end face and runs on ten rollers with middle support rollers(16b). In this way it is possible to run under the nosewheel of the aircraft. By the swinging up of a locking beam(4) the ramp is raised simultaneously by two jointed rods(5a). This saves space when not in use and acts as a mass balance for automatic lowering of the locking beam.
