PURPOSE:To detect the point of the time when an electrode wire contacts with objects to be welded even when the surfaces of the objects are coated with oxidized films or the like by utilizing said wire as a contactor and bringing the wire in contact with the objects while oscillating the same. CONSTITUTION:In a method of moving an electrode wire 1, detecting the positions (a), (c) where the wire contacts with objects 7, 9 to be welded and setting the optimum welding position of the wire 1 from said positions (a), (c), the wire 1 is brought into contact with the objects 7, 8 while the wire is oscillated at a constant amplitude and frequency. When the oscillating wire 1 contacts with the objects 7, 8, it scrapes the surface of the objects and removes obstructive materials such as oxidized films and paint on the surfaces, thereby assuring the electrical contact of the wire 1. |
