NEW MATERIAL:A 5,10-epoxidized previtamin D3 of the formula. USE:Useful as a medicine, e.g. a cancer eliminating agent, and having a powerful ability to induce the differentiation of human myelocytic leukemia HL-60 cells into granulocytes. PROCESS:Vitamin D3 is subjected to the reaction with a peroxide, e.g. tert-butyl hydroperoxide in the presence of molybdenum carbonyl [Mo(CO)6], to give the 5,10-epoxidized previtamin D3 of the formula. Dried benzene is used as the reaction solvent. |
