摘要 1,015,636. Feeding sheets. RANK XEROX Ltd. Dec. 23, 1961 [Dec. 23, 1960], No. 32534/65. Divided out of 1,015,633. Heading B6B. [Also in Division G2] In an electrophotographic apparatus (see Divisions G2-G3) sheet material is fed into contact with a xerographic drum at an image transfer station. A supply of sheets 301, Fig. 5, to be fed one at a time to a sheet conveyer 43, is positioned in a slidable tray 41 mounted on drawer slides such as 302. The tray 41 has a platform 304; Fig. 13 (not shown), side walls 305, and an end wall 306. To provide sheet separation of the topmost sheet, sheet separators e.g. 308, Fig. 14, act at adjacent sheet corners. Each separator has a vertical stop 311 with an inturned lip urged into contact with the topmost sheet by a spring 313. Cam followers 314 secured to the separators are lifted by cams 315, Fig. 13 (not shown), thereby facilitating the introduction of a new stack in the tray upon withdrawal of the tray on the drawer slides. A gate 316 aligns the sheets prior to the engagement of the separators. The gate is swung downwards by a cam 319 upon advance of the tray. A driven separator roller 42, Fig. 21, of rubber is secured to a core 323, Fig. 12 (not shown), mounted by a slip clutch 324 on a driven shaft SH-9, Fig. 21. Shaft SH-9 is driven by a belt 326 from a shaft SH-8 within a tube 333 oscillated by a lever 335 to bring the roller 42 into contact with the topmost sheet to feed this sheet to sheet guide 39, Fig. 5. The leading edge of the fed sheet is arrested by a pivotally mounted gate 355, Fig. 14, thus causing buckling of the sheet. A sheet gripper 44 actuates the gate 355 to release a sheet so held to permit the sheet to be gripped by the gripper. Conveyer 43, Fig. 5, includes two endless roller chains 361, Fig. 11 (not shown), passing around drive sprockets 362, 365, Fig. 5. The chains carry the sheet grippers 44 as described in Specification No. 1,015,634, equally spaced from each other along the length of the chains. The chains are driven in synchronism with the xerographic drum 20 by the drive mechanism of Fig. 6 (not shown). After receiving a powder image from the drum 20, Fig. 5, sheets are passed through a heat fuser 46 and are delivered by rollers 48, 47, Fig. 11 (not shown). Similar rollers 49 feed a sheet inadequately gripped by grippers 44 out of the apparatus to a guide 50.
