1502994 Styryl dyes SANDOZ Ltd 25 April 1975 [25 April 1974] 17226/75 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises beta,beta-dicyano styryl disperse dyes having a tertiary amino or N-attached heterocyclic group in p-position and an acyloxy group in o-position to the methine group, the acyloxy group being a(C 1-6 )alkoxycarbonyloxy, chloro- or bromo - (C 1-6 )alkoxy carbonyloxy, phenyl(C 1-6 )alkoxycarbonyloxy, phenoxycarbonyloxy, (C 1-6 )alkylsulphonyloxy, (C 5-6 )cycloalkylsulphonyloxy, phenyl(C 1-6 )alkylsulphonyloxy, (C 1-6 )alkyl or di(C 1-6 )alkylaminocarbonyloxy, (C 1-6 )alkyl or di(C 1-6 )alkylaminosulphonyloxy, N-(C 1-6 )alkyl - N - phenylaminocarbonyloxy, N - (C 1-6 )alkyl - N - phenylaminosulphonyloxy or morpholino-, thiamorpholino-, pyrrolidino- or piperidinocarbonyloxy or sulphonyloxy in which any phenyl moiety may be monosubstituted by ethoxy or have up to 2 substituents selected from Cl, Br, CH 3 and CH 3 O. Preferred compounds have the Formula I where R 1 is C 1 -6 alkyl or C 5-6 cycloalkyl, R 2 is C 1 -4 alkyl optionally monosubstituted by Cl, Br, phenyl, phenoxy, C 1-4 alkoxy, C 1-4 alkoxycarbonyl, C 1-4 alkylcarbonyloxy, C 1-4 alkoxycarbonyloxy or benzoyloxy or R 1 and R 2 complete a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring and R 3 is H or R 3 and R 1 together form a pyrrolidine or piperidine ring and R 4 is (C 1-6 )alkoxycarbonyl, optionally substituted by Cl or Br, (C 1 -4 )alkoxy (C 2-6 )alkoxycarbonyl, benzyloxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, (C 1-6 )alkylsulphonyl, (C 5-6 )cycloalkylsulphonyl, benzylsulphonyl, di,(C 1-4 )alkylaminocarbonyl or sulphonyl, N - (C 1-4 )alkyl - N - phenylaminocarbonyl or sulphonyl or pyrrolidino-, piperidine- or morpholinocarbonyl or sulphonyl, any phenyl moieties being optionally substituted as above. The dyes may be prepared by condensing the corresponding aminobenzaldehyde or an optionally quaternated (C 1-4 )alkylimino derivative thereof with malodinitrile. The dyes of the invention may be used to pad or exhaust dye, to print and to transfer print textile materials, especially those consisting of or comprising linear aromatic polyesters, cellulose 2¢- or triacetate or synthetic polyamides, giving yellow or greenish-yellow shades. |
