PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill handling device having high crime prevention and including a conveyance path with a simple constitution.SOLUTION: A bill handling device for handling bills comprises a bill reception/payment unit installed outside a safe, a discrimination unit installed inside the safe, a temporary storage, a bill storage, and a conveyance unit including a plurality of branch units and a plurality of conveyance paths and switching a conveyance path for conveying bills by the branch units between the bill reception/payment unit, the discrimination unit, the temporary storage and the bill storage. The bill handling device further comprises a first conveyance path connecting the bill reception/payment unit and the bill storage via the discrimination unit, a second conveyance path connecting a first branch unit disposed between the bill reception/payment unit and the bill storage on the first conveyance path and a second branch unit disposed between the discrimination unit and the bill storage, and a third conveyance path connecting a third branch unit disposed between the first branch unit and the discrimination unit on the first conveyance path and the temporary storage.
