<p>1351018 Compound for cabucala madagascariensis FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 19 April 1971 [11 March 1970] 23778/71 Heading A5B A compound isolated from Cabucala madagascariensis having empirical formula of C 22 H 26 O 4 N 2 , a melting point of about 167.5‹C., a molecular weight, as determined by mass spectrometry, of 382, an U.V. spectrum in methanol having absorption bands with maxima at 227 and 279 millimicrons and an I.R. spectrum in chloroform as shown in the accompanying drawing or a salt thereof with an acid may be isolated by a process which comprises the following steps:- (i) dried Cabucala madagascariensis is extracted with an alcohol or with an aliphatic halohydrocarbon, (ii) the solvent is evaporated or allowed to evaporate from the extract and the residue dried, (iii) the residue is extracted with acid, (iv) the acid extract is made alkaline to reprecipitate the compound, and (v) the precipitate is separated and extracted with an aliphatic holohydrocarbon and the required compound isolated from the extract. The compound is used in pharmaceutical preparations.</p> |
