IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD AND IMAGE PROCESSING UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing unit by which a converted image with high image quality reserving a sharp and clear edge part and a smooth image is obtained without necessitating a complicated processing procedure and a complicated unit configuration. SOLUTION: A peripheral picture element extract device 5 extracts a peripheral picture element with respect to an interpolation picture element added with a interpolation picture element setting device 2 and a picture element value of the interpolation picture element is decided based on a picture element value of the extracted peripheral picture element. An evaluation function arithmetic unit 6 obtains an evaluation value of image data whose each interpolation picture element value is decided and an interpolation picture element value arithmetic unit 7 repetitively corrects the interpolation picture element value till the evaluation value satisfies a preset setting value.
