摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is improved in electromagnetic conversion characteristics and a carrier to noise ratio particularly in a high-density recording region by using hexagonal ferritic magnetic powder as ferromagnetic powder and is further low in noise and excellent in high-density characteristics in a recording and reproducing system combined with an MR head. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer containing the ferromagnetic powder and a binder on a base, in which the ferromagnetic powder is the hexagonal ferritic magnetic powder and a nonmagnetic material having a planar structure is deposited on the surface of the hexagonal ferritic magnetic particle surface at 0.5 to 30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. hexagonal ferritic magnetic powder.
