1319318 Inductively heated rollers PLATT INTERNATIONAL Ltd 24 June 1971 [1 July 1970] 31934/70 Heading H5H An inductively heated roller, around which yarn is passed for treatment, comprises a magnetizable cylindrical shell 12, mounted at one end of a drive shaft 8, and a stationary magnetic core 18, carrying a coil 20, with an air gap 19 between the core and shell. The skirt 13 of the shell is counterbored to provide an annular rebate 21, forming an enlargement of the air gap, in which a thermistor or platinum resistance thermometer 22 is mounted. This is used to control the current in the coil 20 and hence the temperature of the roller. If desired the core 18 may additionally be rebated adjacent the recess 21 so that the gap in which the element 22 is mounted is partly in the roller and partly in the core. |
