<p>Cheese flows from the ripener onto a combined conveyor and drainage belt whence it falls into the filler hopper of a rotating drum portion dispensing and shaping station from which it is expelled in turn into the cells of trays passing along a further conveyor belt with the rows synchronised with those on the drum. A separate drive to a central cam within the drum operates push rods driving ejector floors in the cells on the drum. To improve the uniformity of filling of the cells in the drum the drainage of whey from the curd is carried out in two phases; the upper conveyor belt is kept short so that the cells are filled with semi-liq. cheese further drainage being through perforations in the walls and floor of the cells and in the ejector pistons.</p> |
