In a method for the production of a solar cell (11), a flat aluminum laye r is applied to the rear (22) of a solar cell substrate (13). The aluminum i s alloyed into the silicon substrate by the effect of the temperature and fo rms an aluminum BSF (24). The remaining aluminum that has not been alloyed i nto the silicon is subsequently removed. The aluminum BSF (24) is transparen t to light.
