1,126,821. Clutch control. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. 6 Jan., 1966 [9 Jan., 1965], No. 724/66. Heading F2L. In order to maintain the current in the coil of an electromagnetic clutch an element having a high temperature coefficient and arranged in close thermal contact with the clutch acts on a low energy level control circuit and modifies the signals applied to the coil so as to prevent reduction of the current as the temperature increases. The arrangement shown is similar to that described in Specification 1,028,964, in which current to the coil 12 of a powder clutch 13 is supplied from a battery 1 through a transformer 7 connected to an ignition coil 4 operated by a circuit breaker 5. The transformer has two secondary windings 9, 10, the latter being connected to the clutch coil 12 through a diode 16 and non-linear amplifier 19. The winding 10 is in series with a synchronous contact switch 14 across which the high temperature coefficient control element 15 is connected. If the clutch input member rotates faster than the output member the switch 14 is opened and element 15 is effective to cause amplifier 19 to supply increased current to coil 12 as the temperature rises. |
