Wässriger Lack

Aqueous lacquers contain (a) ammonium salts of partial esters, pref. polyhalf-esters, of maleate oils which contain urethane groups, and are optionally modified with polycarboxylic acids; and (b) optionally water miscible solvents. The maleate-oils are prepared by reacting maleic anhydride with esters of unsaturated fatty acids, such as linseed oil, safflower oil, or soya oils, or esters prepared by reacting the unsaturated fatty acids from these natural oils with pentaerylhritol or sorbitol. The present compounds containing urethane groups have improved resistance to water, improved hardness, and improved durability when used as protective coatings. The aqueous lacquers are suitable for application by electrophoresis.
