1,236,299. Reforming gasoline. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP. 15 Dec., 1969 [30 Dec., 1968], No. 60999/69. Heading C5E. A process for improving the octane rating of hydrocarbons boiling in the gasoline range wherein a mixture of hydrocarbons and hydrogen is passed through at least three reforming zones in contact with a reforming catalyst under reforming conditions and wherein the mixture is subjected to heating between the several reforming zones, comprises (a) heating the effluent from a first reforming zone to provide a mixture having a temperature at the inlet to a subsequent reforming zone which is lower than the temperature T 1 of the mixture at the inlet to the first reforming zone and thereafter (b) providing a feed to a later reforming zone having a temperature at the inlet which is higher than the inlet temperature to said subsequent reforming zone. The catalyst may be platinum or alumina. The feedstock may be light or heavy straight run gasoline or hydrotreated cracked gasoline. Conditions are conventional. |
