[Also in Division F2] A small tube is fitted within a socket 16 in the end of a larger one, especially a jewel point 25 fitted into the stainless steel holder 10 of a stylographic writing instrument, by guiding into position on a mandrel 26. The jewel is coated with epoxy resin on its periphery, but not on its end, before entry, the end of the mandrel being located in bore 12. Excess adhesive passes into chamber 18. The edge 30 is rounded after the adhesive has set. The jewel may be diamond. The mandrel may be inserted into the jewel first, as shown, or into the bore 12. |
