[Also in Division D2] In a multi-daylight press, for the hot pressing of sheets or boards of fibrous materials such as wood fibres, of the type in which each upper platen of a pair is provided on its lower face with a plate for controlling the nature of the surface board or sheet to be produced, sagging of the plate when the press is in its inoperative position is prevented by making the plate from two layers 18 and 20, the upper of which has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the lower. In the particular example the upper layer 18 may be of copper and the lower layer 20 may be of acid-proof steel. |
