<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a user cannot grasp the condition that a big difference occurs in terms of time for the ejection of a recording medium between in the case where a recording operation is performed by carrying out communication by means of an interface with a communication speed based on a standard exceeding an engine speed required for the recording operation, and the case where a printing operation is performed by receiving data by means of an interface based on a standard falling short of the engine speed, in a printer capable of being connected to a PC via a plurality of interfaces. <P>SOLUTION: In the printer which is equipped with the plurality of interfaces vastly different in the communication speed, a display method during printing is changed depending on the speed of communication with equipment serving as a host.
