<p>1364277 Oscillating conveyer AMERICAN CHAIN & CABLE CO Inc 3 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 57576/73 Divided out of 1364276 Heading B8A A conveyer comprises a loading belt and a spitter belt supported in tandem arrangement, continuously driven in predetermined drive ratio and supported by fixed support means and a pivotal bearing support to oscillate in an arcuate traverse at the discharge end of the spitter belt, drive means being disposed intermediate the conveyer and the fixed support means. The conveyer is urged to transfer articles to a main conveyer at right angles thereto, ensuring that the discharge end of the spitter belt moves through the arc at a speed approximating that of the main conveyer. In the Figure, parcels identified at 20, where a keyboard 25 also codes a computer to release the parcel at a predetermined point, are loaded on to an idler conveyer 50. The parcels are then loaded manually on to loading belt 55 which is connected in tandem to spitter belt 60, forming an induction conveyer 58 which oscillates through about 10 degrees from the solid-line to the dashed-line position, at a speed approximating that of main conveyer 30 comprising a series of trays 35. Spitter belt 60 is driven faster than loading belt 55. Crank arm 100 driven by constant speed motor clutch-brake and gear reducer 105 causes the oscillation of the belt, which pivots about bearing 85.</p> |
