Producing injection mouldings with zones of different colour - by over moulding a preliminary moulding which is thin in places

Injection mouldings with contrasting coloured zones are made by premoulding in one colour a shape which is to the full wall thickness of the final article over only part its area and then overmoulding with the contrasting material to make the thinner parts of the first moulding. Produces articles with smooth surfaces and accurately registered and mated colour zones. The initial moulding is less deep in height as well as thickness than the composite moulding.
