PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus by which a user can perform printing at a required conveying speed without considering various printing settings. SOLUTION: In the inkjet recording apparatus equipped with a line type recording head, the conveying speed of a recording medium is detected (S401), and in accordance with this detected conveying speed, resolution of recording in the conveying direction by the recording head and a method for controlling driving of the recording head are changed (S403-S413). The changing of this method for controlling driving is to change the width of pulse of a driving pulse to a recording element of the recording head by a factor determined in accordance with the detected conveying speed, or to change divided driving intervals in divided driving control.
