摘要 |
A process for burning mercury containing fuel in a furnace of a fuel burning system to reduce the amount of mercury released from the system into the environment, the process comprising adding a sorbent composition comprising bromine or iodine onto the coal upstream of the 5 furnace, delivering the fuel with the applied sorbent composition into the furnace, adding sorbent components comprising calcium, silica, and alumina into the furnace where the temperature is greater than 2000'F, and combusting the fuel in the furnace to produce combustion gases, ash and heat energy. Also disclosed is a method of burning coal with reduced levels of undesirable elements escaping into the environment, in which a solution of calcium bromide is applied onto 10 the coal. Further disclosed is a method for reducing mercury levels in the flue gases resulting from the combustion of coal in which sorbent components comprising halogen, calcium, silica and alumina are applied onto the coal. |
