PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder cooling device which increases the ability of cooling regions adjacent to combustion chambers and uniforms the temperature distribution in the peripheral directions of cylinders while preventing the supercooling of regions apart from the sides of the combustion chambers, without complicating the construction.SOLUTION: The cylinder cooling device includes a water jacket 50 formed around cylinders 20, and first and second introduction holes 80, 90 provided in the cylinders for discharging cooling water compressed by a water pump into regions adjacent to the combustion chambers in the water jacket to form water flows along the outer peripheral faces of the cylinders, respectively. The first and second introduction holes are each constructed so that an angle α formed by a straight connecting the center of a discharge port and the center of the cylinder and the water flow in its mainly flowing direction is smaller than an angle β formed by a tangent on the outer peripheral face of the cylinder passing through the discharge port and the straight, and an interval between the discharge ports of the first and second introduction holes is shorter than the diameter of the outer peripheral face of the cylinder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
