A cutting fluid for titanium and its alloys consists of an emulsion of about 10 parts by volume of water and 1 part by volume of a mixture of: five to twenty parts by volume of an oil solution of an oil soluble metal petroleum sulphonate selected from the group consisting of barium, calcium, magnesium and aluminium sulphonates, the concentration of the metal petroleum sulphonate by weight in oil is for barium about 44% and for calcium, magnesium and aluminium about 55%, twenty parts by volume of an alkali metal petroleum sulphonate emulsifier, one part by volume of a glycol coupler, (i.e. a, glycol ether), and fifty-nine to seventy-four parts by volume of a neutral blending oil. |
