The invention relates to a device for measuring the cable force of glider launching winches. The object of the invention is to create a cable force measuring device in the case of which no additional cable wear is produced. It has been found that the behaviour of the contact force of the winch drive units (which is supported at three points such that it can move about the output drive shaft) is proportional to the directly measured cable force. The object is achieved in that the winch drive motor is supported at three or more points such that it can move about the axis of the output drive shaft, of which points a maximum of two are located at a relatively large distance from the axis of the output drive shaft, and in that a force measurement unit is fitted at one of these points, in order to measure the contact force at this point. <IMAGE>
