The invention provides new compounds, derived from histidine, with the general formula (I), in which: n is 0 to 3; R represents one to five ring substituents which can be the same or different and are chosen independently of each other from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower haloalkyl, lower haloalkoxy, lower alkyl thio, hydrothio, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, nitro, cyano, azido, amido. The compounds according to the invention exhibit neurotoxic and fluorescent activity and are thus particularly suitable as aids in the control of histaminergic neurons and of the neurotransmitter histamine. <IMAGE>
