Auxiliary troublesome elements like Cu, Zn, Ag, Au, Pb, As, Sb, Sn are extracted from basically iron oxides, particularly from pyrite roasting residues and from flying ashes from dead roasting of pyrites, with conversion of the iron oxides into a form suitable for furnace use. The process consists of, after two stages known from prior art, applying a 3rd stage, consisting of, after lixidation, sintering the material, adding a c-contg. material such as coal or coke dust and recycled reducing sintering gases, in order to ensure chlorinating volatilisation. Then, with the sintering gases, the resulting non-metallic chlorides which volatilise before the sintering point, are extracted. Subsequent treatment is as normal.
|
