A display panel comprises a glass centre plate 40 having a plurality of ionizable gasfilled apertures 50 secured between top and bottom plates 20, 30 carrying embedded row and column electrodes 60, 70 covered with insulating material 150. The electrodes may be vapour deposited on rectangular glass plates and coated with synthetic resinous material or by melting powdered glass frit. The plates 20, 30, 40 are sealed together with thermoplastic or thermosetting cement or powdered glass 110. The apertures are exhausted and filled through a tube with N 2 or A mixed with He or Ne, alternatively the panel is assembled in the filling atmosphere. The electrodes may be fine wires or metal strips.</p> |
