A rotary hook comprises a hollow looptaker body rigid with hollow journalled shaft, a bobbin case journalled within the looptaker body, a bobbin case rotationrestraining member arranged within the looptaker body, and fixed support means for said member extending therefrom through said shaft. A hollow shaft 26, journalled in a fixed bush 25, is formed with a radial flange 28 secured by screws 31 to the base 33 of a cupshaped looptaker body 32. A gear 30, rigid with shaft 26, meshes with a gear 24 rigid with a driving shaft 22. The side wall 34 of body 32 is formed with inward projections 36 which support a radial flange 54 on a bobbin case 37 containing a bobbin 90. An annular member 41, sprung within body 32, is formed with a gap 44 one end of which constitutes the loop-seizing beak 45. Member 41 is formed opposite gap 44 with an inwardly-projecting thread pull-off fin (46) with a radial flange 43 which rests on the rim of wall 34, and with an axial flange which co-operates with the projections 36 to provide a bearing for flange 54. Member 41 is secured to wall 34 by pins 47. A disc 77, supported on base 33, is rigid with a shaft 78 extending through shaft 26. A finger 76 extends from disc 77 into a recess 75 formed in bobbin case 37 within a gap (55) formed in flange 54. A bar 80, rigid with and extending radially from shaft 78, carries a handle 81, manipulation of which serves to turn shaft 78 for locating a spring-biased pin 83, carried by bar 80, in one or the other of two notches 86 formed on the sewing machine frame. In one position of adjustment of shaft 78, a thread-guiding notch (63), formed in a thread-tensioning spring 60 secured to flange 54, is located to one side of the mean position of the needle 19 for straight stitching. In the other position of adjustment, notch (63) is located opposite said mean position for zig zag stitching. |
