PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the safety of a subject and an operator by preventing excitation light from coming into the eyes of the subject or the operator when the inserting part of an endoscope is inserted or pulled out in a fluorescent endoscope for picking up a self-fluorescent image generated from an organism tissue by the irradiation of the excitation light. SOLUTION: When the tip of the inserting part 100 of the endoscope is out of organism, a flicker generated by a room light such as a fluorescent lamp is picked up together with a self-fluorescent image or normal image by a highly sensitive imaging device 306 for a fluorescent image or an imaging device 107 for a normal image, and detected by a flicker detecting means 405 or 504. When a flicker is detected by the flicker detecting means 405 or 504, a signal is outputted from the flicker detecting means 405 or 504 to an excitation light emission prohibition control means 700. The excitation light emission prohibition control means 700 prohibits the emission of excitation light by turning off an electric power supply 112 for semiconductor laser by a control computer 200. |
