1,121,555. Electric blasting fuzes. NITROGLYCERIN A.B. 4 Aug., 1965 [5 Aug., 1964], No. 33272/65. Heading F3A. Conductors of electric fuzeheads are stamped from a sheet metal strip 1 and a strip 6 of insulating material is secured to each side of metal strip 1 to secure together in pairs the electrodes formed by the stamping. A resistance wire 9 is attached by bending over and soldering the free ends 7 of the electrodes. The wire 9 is then severed between each pair of electrodes and surplus metal strip 1 cut away leaving the pairs of electrodes 11 attached to a narrow border 10. The assembly is then wound into a spiral and the ends 7 dipped in a priming composition to form a bead on the bridge wires 13. After drying and cleaning, the formed fuzeheads are separated. The strip 1 may be made of iron or other magnetic material for easy mounting of the wound strip on a magnetic carrier (15), Fig. 3, not shown, prior to dipping. The turns of the spiral may be held apart by material sandwiched between them. |
