Lactone activators for oxidation, bleach, washing and auxiliary washing agents Are of formula (where R is F, Cl, Br or I or 1-2C alkyl in which at least one H atom but pref. 3H atoms are replaced by halogen), esp. beta-CCl3-beta-propiolactone, they are used for inorganic per-cpds., giving off active O, such as H2O2 or perborates, and are used in aqs. oxidation and bleaching solutions containing 20-500 (50-250) mg/l active O and having pH 2-12 (7-11.5, particularly 8-10.5), or in solid powdery to granular concentrates, opt. containing disinfectants.
