1308572 Endless conveyers GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 19 April 1971 [19 March 1970 26 Oct 1970] 21956/71 Heading B8A A comb assembly 10 between a conveyer belt 1 and a stationary load/unload member 8 has teeth 11 which are able to centre themselves within grooves 2 of the belt. The teeth are guided for lateral movement by a bar 12 which engages in grooves 15, 17 in the teeth. To prevent binding of the teeth on the bar, a rod 32 passes slidably through openings 33 in the forward ends of the teeth. The bar 12 is secured to an undercarriage 14 which is pivotally mounted to fixed supports 35 such that there is always clearance between the bottom of the comb assembly and the belt 1. In the event that an object becomes lodged between the comb and belt, the undercarriage 14 begins to rise and a limit switch 36 is tripped to stop the belt. The space between trim plates 39 and the member 8 is filled with resilient material 40. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), groups of teeth (41, 42) are joined to form comb segments (43, 44). The teeth may be of glass filled nylon and molydisulphide particles for anti-friction-noise purposes may be interspersed therein. In place of the conveyer belt, moving stairway plates may be used. |
