PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commutator capable of achieving long life of a commutator electric motor by improving the rectification, a low cost by improving the productivity and high efficiency by employing a thicker armature winding.SOLUTION: The commutator includes: a sliding metal layer that comes into contact with a sliding brush at the outer side of a cylinder or circular column in a radial direction; an electrical insulation layer at the inner side in the radial direction; and a functionally graded material between the sliding metal layer and the electrical insulation layer, each of which is disposed in a concentric circular manner. The sliding metal layer is formed of a copper powder metallurgy which has a fine metal layer porous. With this, a sliding lubricant, which was conventionally difficult to impregnate into a resin brush, can be impregnated into the commutator to improve the slidability; to thereby prevent generation of sparks.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
