A locking ring non-rotatably mounted on a steering column is provided with holes 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP> to co-operate with locking pins (not shown) and comprises shells 1, 2 which grip the column by means of screws 4, 5. The gap between the shells is maintained by a lining 3 recessed into the shell 2 and is dimensioned to limit the locking or tightening effect. Spikes 3<SP>3</SP> on the lining penetrate the column to fix the ring. |
