PURPOSE:To obtain a plate blank high in sensitivity and durability in printing and easy to manufacture, by a method wherein an electric charge feeding layer is provided on a conductive base, and an electric charge generating layer comprising an electric charge generating substance and a reaction product of a specified resin with a crosslinking agent is provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:The electric charge feeding layer 2 comprising an electric charge feeding substance as a main constituent is provided on the conductive base 1, and the electric charge generating layer 3 which comprises an electric charge generating substance and a reaction product of a crosslinking agent with a resin having an acid anhydride ring structure and the surface of which can be made hydrophilic is provided thereon. The layer 3 is required to have not only an electric charge generating function but also a function of being changed from a hydrophobic state at the time of forming an electrostatic latent image to a hydrophilic state at the time of printing. The reaction product of a crosslinking agent and a resin having an aicd anhydride ring structure, per se, is hydrophobic and has sufficient resistance for holding the latent image, but when it is treated when an alkaline aqueous solution, the acid anhydride ring part is opened by water to provide hydrophilic nature, which enables printing. Since the surface of the layer 3 becomes hydrophic but not water-soluble and has sufficient water resistance, durability in printing can be obtained. |
