PURPOSE:To obtain a new polypeptide, having specific physical properties, capable of causing pollinosis and useful as a desensitizer, etc. CONSTITUTION:This polypeptide has the following physico-chemical properties: molecular weight: 55000+ or -5000 daltons (measured by the SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis); isoelectric point: 9.0+ or -0.5 (measured by the isoelectric focusing); amino acid sequence at the N-terminal: having an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula at the N-terminal; ultraviolet absorption spectrum: the absorption maximum at about 280nm; solubility in solvents: soluble in water, a physiological saline solution and a phosphoric acid buffer solution; biological action: capable of binding to an immunoglobulin E antibody collected from blood of a patient suffering from pollinosis and causing the pollinosis and stability: inactivated by heating at 100 deg.C for 1 min in an aqueous solution (pH7.2) without being substantially inactivated even by allowing the polypeptide to stand at 4 deg.C in an aqueous solution (pH7.2) for 1 month. Furthermore. the polypeptide is obtained by culturing a transformant containing a DNA capable of coding the polypeptide in a culture medium for culturing and collecting the produced polypeptide from the resultant culture. |
