PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile transmission system and a facsimile machine capable of efficiently executing transmission even if many transmission jobs are caused by taking into account an overhead in the case of facsimile transmission by a deputy. SOLUTION: An MFP1a acting like the facsimile machine connected to a LAN 8 selects machines in a standby state among other MFPs 1b, 1c, ... and further selects a machine whose transmission speed of facsimile transmission is highest. Further, the MFP1a estimates a first time t1 required for the facsimile transmission by its own MFP1a, a second time t2 required for transfer to the selected MFP (e.g. the MFP1b) selected in this way via the LAN 8, and a third time t3 required for the facsimile transmission by the MFP1b. Then a controller controls whether or not the facsimile transmission is executed by the MFP1b by a deputy on the basis of the first time t1 and a summated time t4 resulting from the summation the second time t2 and the third time t3.
